Ankara Fabric || Two(2) Piece Ankara Outfit

modern ankara two 2 piece outfit
Let’s talk Ankara print fabric and outfits for a bit today. Yes, it’s because I’m wearing a two piece Ankara outfit on the blog today made by yours truly (see me feeling myself, but I guess I have every right to huh?)

Should we define an Ankara fabric or African print fabric material first? (I am guessing we should). Well from my own point of view and understanding, the Ankara fabric is a cotton material with vibrant colour patterns.  The Ankara prints are mostly done on cotton materials but of late things have changed; I came across a chiffon materials with Ankara prints on it when I visited the fabric sections of a market. The Ankara fabric is mainly used by Africans but because of its vibrancies and versatility, the Ankara fabric has become quite popular around the world. The fashion industry is not joking anymore; designers have become more creative this days with this Ankara fabric. Ankara outfits are no longer the boring skirt and blouse or basic gowns of the old. I have seen accessories made out of Ankara, even socks. I remember when I use to make Ankara bags some years back, say two(2) years ago or so(visit my Facebook to see some bags I made) I got so much patronage  because obviously people love the Ankara trend and they were in awe of how versatile the fabric is, I guess.

unique ankara style wide leg pant, stylish ways to tie a belt
Ankara style outfits this days are very chic and radiant; the Ankara print alone can make a simple design outfit pop. I see many Ankara outfits bedazzled with really nice stones, like those heat transfer studs we see on English wears. Ankara outfits fits so perfectly on the female form; and let’s not forget men are trying out the Ankara corporate trousers on English shirts. There are no time restrictions when rocking an Ankara outfit, Ankara outfits can be worn from day to night. They are classy and timeless.

So with much hype about the Ankara fabric/outfits, I made this two (2) piece Ankara outfit which is basically a wide leg pant and a sleeveless patch work button down shirt. I initially wanted to make an Ankara pinafore trouser; you know, those trousers with suspenders but I changed my mind and made this Ankara wide leg pant which is also nice, as I can’t emphasize enough of how much I fancy wide leg pants but it has to be high waist-ed. After I decided to make a wide-leg pant, I didn’t think twice about it again because I had styles popping in my head on how to style it and this Ankara style is one. Don’t you just love that shirt? I remember when my brother first saw the unfinished work of the Ankara shirt on my bed, he asked if it was for him, ha-ha he quite a fashion lover too, and the shirt is unisex and will even fit more as a long sleeve with cuff-links at the wrist for guys, right? I might also make a jacket to so I can style the wide leg pant.
I went a tad bit less with the accessories when I was styling this Ankara outfit as it was obviously busy. I choose African bangles for this outfit to complete the African feel I wanted for this outfit. Styled it with an off-white fur clutch purse and white block heel shoes. That belt is actually my Dad’s (talk about borrow pose, ha-ha), it went round my waist twice so I knot it in front.
So what are your thoughts on this outfit?
